The U.S. Government is working to develop a National Action Plan to promote responsible business conduct abroad that is consistent with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. This process provides an opportunity to reflect on how the United States can develop regulatory and voluntary measures that will help U.S. companies act responsibly and consistently with the UN Guiding Principles, regardless of the host country operating environment.

India cabinet eases land acquisition rules

The Indian cabinet has passed an emergency executive order to greatly ease rules for acquiring land for infrastructure projects.
Authorities say the move will kickstart hundreds of billions of dollars in stalled projects across the country.
Critics say the new rules will be unfair to farmers and the rural poor.
Industrialists had raised concerns over a law approved by the last Congress government in January which made it tough to acquire land from farmers.

Santa Elena de Uairen, December 16th, 2014. (venezuelanalysis.com)- Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro announced on Friday his staunch support of the agricultural commune El Maizal after their communal property title was revoked by a Supreme Court judge earlier that week.
Initially, communards of El Maizal rejected the December 9 court decision and called on Maduro and other government bodies to uphold their claim in a public statement.
