FFP Editing Tools
The FFP Editing Tools plugin is specifically developed as an integral component of the Fit-For-Purpose (FFP) land registration methodology. Designed by Javier Morales (2021), this QGIS plugin streamlines the critical stage of post-processing field-collected land boundary data. Its primary goal is to transform raw spatial and administrative data, collected through participatory approaches involving local communities, into reliable, topologically accurate parcel information that complies with national land administration standards. The plugin provides essential editing functionalities tailored for FFP post-processing, including merging and simplifying parcel boundaries, projecting survey points, resolving spatial inconsistencies, and systematically detecting and rectifying common errors. It leverages PostgreSQL and PostGIS spatial database infrastructure, working seamlessly with version 9.2 of the FFP data model to ensure a structured and efficient workflow. Continuous improvements have refined the tool’s functionality, enhancing user interface interactions, error reporting, and editing capabilities. These updates ensure simplicity for users—often grassroots surveyors and GIS technicians—who require robust yet intuitive tools for managing land tenure data collected through community-based surveys. In summary, the FFP Editing Tools plugin effectively bridges the gap between participatory field surveys and official cadastral registration, fulfilling the broader objectives of rapid, affordable, and community-driven land administration practices.
