FfP – Database Configuration Scripts
The FfP Database Configuration Scripts form a crucial backbone within the broader Fit-for-Purpose (FfP) land registration methodology. These scripts facilitate the structured setup, population, and management of spatial databases needed to process land tenure data collected during field surveys. They ensure seamless interoperability between field-collected spatial and administrative data, the QGIS editing workflow, and the subsequent Public Inspection stage. The scripts perform three main functions: first, they establish a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database from raw data stored in FileGeodatabase format, configuring it specifically for compatibility with the FfP QGIS editing plugin. Second, after editing is complete, the scripts reconfigure the dataset to support the Public Inspection application—an essential participatory validation step within the FfP process. Third, the scripts configure the necessary elements within an Apache/MapServer environment, enabling efficient visualisation and interactive access to land data during Public Inspection. Collectively, these scripts provide robust, automated management of databases, ensuring efficient transitions between survey, editing, validation, and publication phases. This structured approach significantly reduces the technical complexity for users, allowing stakeholders, including grassroots surveyors, community members, and land administrators, to actively participate in the verification and acceptance of land tenure information.
