    This study aimed determining the effectiveness of active green space opportunities (parks, children's gardens, sport and playgrounds) in the Upper Northwest Urban Development Area of Adana. Existing active green spaces were obtained as green space values per capita and indexed at the neighborhood level. The effectiveness of active green space opportunities for each neighborhood were estimated by the distances between centers of neighborhoods and the threshold distance between any active green space and the furthest residential housing.

    This study was conducted during the period of April 2005 to April 2007 to determine the distribution of the shrub species in maquis in the district of Erdemli, near the Taurus Mountains. The experimental design had three different altitudes (0- 400 m, 400-800 m and over 800 m) and in two geographical sites (north and south) was determined according to sampling method with no plots. Thirty eight shrub species were found in 18 different research locations chosen on different altitudes and sites. The distribution of species showed a variation depending on the altitudes.

    The increase of coastal problems as a result of rapid developments and changes brought new planning and management needs into the agenda. The Integrated Coastal Area Management (ICAM) concept developed under the Mediterranean Action Plan (MAP) includes solutions towards the sustainable use of coastal areas in the Mediterranean Region. Antalya is the province of Turkey with the longest coastline on the Mediterranean Sea. Side- Manavgat coasts of the province are privileged areas with their natural beaches, sand dune forests, rivers and natural and historical relic sites.

    The aim of this research was to determine physical land evaluation of hazelnut areas of Ordu-Unye and its vicinity. The study area, is located between west of Ordu and south of Samsun provinces, at coordinates 4542500-4537500 km N and 342500-347500 km E (UTM), covers approximately 31.5 km2. The study area consists of various topographic features such as, hilly and rolling physiographic units commonly. Elevation varies from 200 m to 600 m above sea level. Average annual precipitation and temperature are 1162.4 mm and 14.2ºC, respectively.

    Using remote sensing and geographical information system (GIS), the detection of land cover/landuse (LC/LU) spaceies and monitoring changes in particular periods are made easily and economically. CORINE classification was developed in 1985 by countries of the Europeon Union to establish a good harmony especialy with LC/LU classification. This system contains three levels of classification. So far, LC/LU classification has not been fullfilled using large scale CORINE classification in Turkey,.

    Kafkasör Forest Area which is close to the Artvin (Turkey) city center is an important recreational area. 'Kafkasör Festival' is arranged in July every year. However, the area is intensively used during the festivals, and irregular usage and lack of equipment damage the area. Because of the intensity of festival activities, the area can not respond the needs and the determined visitor necessities don't be used in planning. Hence, redefining the visitor demand should be determined.

    Distiribution of erosion and its grade exited by climatic and topographic conditions was carried out depending on slope in Coruh watershed. Data necessary for determining of violence and grade of erosion having importance for relation between soil and plant were obtained from Erzurum province land resources map (1/100.000 scale) prepared by the General Direction of the Rural Work in 2000. The ArcGIS 9.1 sotware was used for digitalizing the map. It was determined that soils of the study area higly exposed to erosion and this situation is continue.

    The soils of the Yıldız Mountain, namely Entisols, Mollisols, Inceptisols, Ultisols, and Spodosols, from Poyralı, Yeniceköy, Demirköy and northwest of Igneada that were developed on calcareous sandy sediments, chlorite schists, Pliocene sediments and alluvial materials were studied in this paper.
