    This Decree provides for certain dealings in land related to a loan facility and relative mortgages and title in native land for the development of a coastal area. The Decree seeks to protect funds advanced by the Fiji National Provident Fund by providing for accelerated transfer of title and relative registration by the Land Registrar. Land involved in these dealings includes native land covered by a Land Swap Agreement for which the Native land Trust Board holds specified powers.

    This Act establishes the Building Permits Evaluation Committee within the ministry responsible for industry and trade and provides with respect to procedures for the application for building permits and granting of building permits by the Commission. A “building permit” means a building permit referred to in the Public Health Act 1935 and its subsidiary laws.

    These Regulations amend the Native Land Trust (Leases and Licences) Regulations in regulation 11 by repealing paragraph (1) and substituting that paragraph of these Regulations. They also repeal paragraph 3 of regulation 11. Paragraph (1) concerns the distribution of moneys received by the Native Lands Board by way of rents and premiums in respect of native land.

    A Decree to amend the Unit Titles Act.

    This Decree amends the Unit Titles Act in section 2 by deleting subsection (4). Subsection (4) prohibits a proprietor of a unit to establish an easement over the unit without the consent of the proprietor of the unit estate or the mortgagee.

    This Decree amends the iTaukei Land Act (formerly the Native Lands Act) by inserting a new section (24), which empowers the Minister to make Regulations prescribing matters that are required or permitted by the principal Act to be prescribed or are necessary or convenient to be prescribed for carrying out or giving effect to the principal Act.

    This Decree amends the Native Land Trust Act by establishing in that Act and all subsidiary laws made under that Act the word "native" shall be deleted wherever it appears and be replaced by the word "i Taukei". A new section is inserted in the principal Act. That section establishes that all written laws are amended by deleting all references to the word "native" wherever it appears and by inserting "i Taukei".

    This Decree amends the iTaukei Land Act (formerly the Native Lands Act) in subsection 1(b) of section 19 by deleting the words "Great Council of Chiefs" and substituting "iTaukei Affairs Board". Section 19 was inserted by the Native Lands (Amendment) Act 2002 in the principal Act and concerns the allotment of all extinct mataqali land.
