El 25 de septiembre de 2015, los líderes mundiales comprometieron firmemente la establecimiento de un conjunto de objetivos globales con el fin de erradicar la pobreza, preservar el planeta y asegurar la prosperidad para todas personas como una parte de la Agenda de Desarrollo Sostenible.

FPP was a co-convenor of the indigenous peoples’ and local communities’ forum at the Asia Parks Congress.

During the congress, summaries were prepared to combine and share the experiences and stories of indigenous peoples and local communities into a Declaration. The participants, facilitated by Gordon Thomas from PACOS and FPP, finalized and sent a powerful message not only to the whole of the Asia Parks Congress but also specifically addressed the World Parks Congress that will take place over the next 5 years.

Representatives of Indigenous Peoples-led conservation organisations and networks in Africa convened in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 – 16 June 2022 under the auspices of the Alliance Rights, Inclusion and Social Equity in Conservation (ARISEC), to plan for their meaningful participation in the first IUCN’s Africa Protected Areas Congress (APAC) scheduled for July 2022 in Rwanda. At this event, they created this declaration.

Co-Conveners of the programme includes the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE), University of Bern, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) and the Independent Mediation Group (IMG). The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg supported the Forum.

Recién con la Constitución de 1920 las comunidades lograron su reconocimiento por el Estado peruano, iniciándose la protección de sus tierras para frenar el apetito de los hacendados criollos, régimen que cambió drásticamente en 1993. Pero la seguridad sobre las tierras comunales siguió, y sigue siendo aún un compromiso que nuestro Estado no ha honrado. Por el contrario, el saneamiento de las tierras comunales es un tema pendiente, que mantiene a las comunidades campesinas y nativas en condición de desventaja frente a inversionistas privados, proyectos estatales e incluso de invasores.
