    In this paper, the author considers the impacts of land reform on privatization and ownership structure of agricultural land, as well as on agricultural and rural developments. The analysis is based on official statistical sources, data and results of several questionnaire-based surveys. The main idea of the paper – it is necessary to flow the land from large corporate farms to small family farms, until equilibrium will not be created between those two farm sectors, as is commonly observed in market economies.

    The effects of subsidies on the development of organic farming (OF) in the Czech Republic and in some selected EU countries are analysed in this article. The level of subsidies for OF in the Czech Republic is continuously increasing. In 1998, the total amount of subsidies was 48 million CZK, whereas in 2004, it increased to nearly 277 million CZK. The increase of subsidies led to an increase in the number of organic farms as well as the area under OF.

    Much is reported about the destruction of natural forests and the consequences for global warming, while on the other hand, exotic plantations in some regions struggle to gain public acceptance. The earth's population is projected to rise to around 9 billion by 2050, with a concomitant increase in demand for forest products. Inevitably, forests in general, and managed forest in particular, will be called on to provide an ever-increasing proportion of local supplies and the international wood trade.

    The breed of the hen Oravka was created by crossbreeding of the regional hens with Rhode Island, Wyandotte and New Hampshire. Oravka and Bantam Oravka were recognised as breeds in 1990. The original breeding goal to create a dual purpose poultry breed with good egg production, growth ability and adaptability on altemative outdoor rearing was fulfilled during the individual stages of breeding programme, which started in the 1950. This year, 40 controlled breeds of Oravka with 56 males and 502 females were registered.

    This Regulation amends Annex 1 of the Regulation establishing vulnerable areas and the use and storage of fertilizers and manure fertilizers, crop rotation and implementation of erosion-control measures in these areas. This Annex specifies vulnerable areas which are geographically defined by the cadastral territory of the Czech Republic.
