    Proceedings of international scientific - methodical conference “Baltic Surveying’17” are periodical edition of scientific articles, issued as online (ISSN 2243-6944) edition. The periodicity of proceedings is one volume per year. Conference was held on the 10 - 12 of May, 2017 at the Latvia University of Agriculture, Jelgava, it was organized by the Department of Land Management and Geodesy. Authors of the papers are teachers, researchers and practising professionals from Belarus, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Spain, Ukraine and Latvia.

    The scope of export-import operations with food goods (FG) and agricultural feedstock (AF) in 2012-2017 is estimated and the volume of output of the main kinds of agricultural products by 2020 by the EEU countries is forecasted. It is shown that from 2012 till 2016 the scope of export, import, goods turnover and trade balance of FG and AF have reduced from 17871.0; 44363.7; 62234.7 and -26492.7 mln dol to 16941.2; 26491.6; 43432.8 and -5411.4 mln dol, respectively. The mutual trade of FG and AF for the same period reduced 8058.3 to 6847.3 mln dol.

    The current state was studied and main trends of land use development under the influence of changing climate and anthropogenous influence were revealed. The spatial structure, direction and features of regional development of agricultural production in new market conditions of Russia and Kazakhstan was estimated. Creation of agroforestal complexes which have to become a necessary component when forming the profitable country farms located discretely in primordially treeless territories and applying resource-saving technologies was offered for its optimization.

    Geographical indication (GI) schemes can play a special role in promoting sustainable rural development, improving farm income and opening new export potential. Natural factors such as soil, climate and plant varieties play a major role in producing a unique product. Usually, GIs comprise knowledge and skills passed on from generation to generation, helping to protect local heritage. This report is a synthesis of the five national reviews of the legal and institutional frameworks in Armenia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, the Republic of Moldova, and the Russian Federation.

    This river basin overview describes the state of the water resources and water use, as well as the state of agricultural water management in the Aral Sea basin.     Belarus and FAO have been implementing a number of development programmes to encourage agro-industry growth, rural development and trade facilitation since 2005, when the country became a member of FAO. In providing assistance, FAO is and will be focusing on increasing efforts to prevent the African Swine Fever, to help eliminate obsolete pesticides, to harmonize the standards of quality for agricultural products with the European standards, to develop climate change projects and to provide training to the Belarusian agricultural specialists.
