    Ce guide est le produit d’une formation qui s’est tenue à Boghé en Mauritanie, du 24 au 25 avril 2018 sur le CPLCC et sur le partage des outils développés par des partenaires locaux pour améliorer la gouvernance foncière locale du pays. Environ 50 participants ont assisté à la formation, notamment des représentants du gouvernement et des autorités locales, des organisations de producteurs et des coopératives de femmes.

    FAO is committed to reducing gender inequalities through its interventions, and this gender assessment has been produced as part of its broader efforts to generate evidence and knowledge in compliance with its Policy on Gender Equality. This assessment highlights the challenges, gaps and practices in the area of gender and agriculture and rural development in Georgia that need to be considered by policy-makers and project managers in their decision-making and their implementation of development interventions. The main gender inequalities in Georgia are reiterated in this assessment.

    The Continental Land Policy Initiative, now the African Land Policy Centre, has made tremendous progress in generating knowledge on land governance since inception in 2006. A key milestone was the formulation of a Framework and Guidelines on Land Policy in Africa in 2009 upon which the African Union Declaration on Land Issues in Africa was prepared and endorsed in Libya in July 2009.

    Dans le massif  forestier du Sud-ouest de la République Centrafricaine, la terre  représente,  une  richesse inaliénable pour les peuples autochtones Aka. C’est de la terre,  que les Aka communément appelés pygmées,  tirent l’essentiel  de leurs  subsistances. Raison pour laquelle, les ressources foncières  ont fait l’objet d’attention particulière de ces  premiers occupants   du terroir, qui les ont régies par des normes juridico traditionnelles. Ces règles, quoique  fondées sur l’oralité, requiert  une valeur juridique, dont l’observance s’impose à toute la communauté.

     Most of the cities and urban centres of developing nations, Tanzania inclusive are faced with increased urbanization coupled with informal land development in non-designated areas including marginal and hazardous lands. This paper reports the findings of a study undertaken to assess the processes of land development and the associated impacts in Msasani Bonde la Mpunga, a, flood prone area in the City of Dar es Salaam.

The multiplication of needs and logics of use of this non-reproducible resource activates, more than ever, the question of the regulation of the access to the land and questions the modalities of distribution of property rights between the various actors.

    Denial of women in land entitlements especially in patriarchal societies has been a major development concern in Ghana, resulting in promulgation of legal establishments that seek to enhance equality in access to land. This paper examines the underlying factors for gender inequality in land access and usage despite laws established to bridge the gap. Interviews with land custodians and households in North-Western Ghana revealed the desire to preserve cultural heritage as the primary reason for non-inclusion of women in access rights.

    Forced evictions violate a number of internationally and nationally recognized human rights. However, it directly translates to a denial of the right to adequate housing which forms the very foundational basis for the realization of other rights. In the long run, it affects people’s social and economic livelihoods. However, forced evictions remain a practice that is majorly carried out in urban centers in Kenya.

    As the urban land use plan is a tool for urban land governance, this paper explores customers’ expectations that the service providers have not considered as the quality during urban land use plan preparation in Amhara Region - Northern Ethiopia. The study was conducted on 90 urban areas of the Amhara regional state who made the formal complaint against the quality of their urban plan in the year of 2017/18 (2010 Ethiopian calendar). Data were collected by means of the survey using questionnaires and document review.

While the Zambian government acknowledges customary tenure, it has not established required legislation needed to secure it and support to communities in their efforts to protect their lands.
